  • Thomas Fichter Director of the Earle Brown Music Foundation

    Thomas Fichter has been serving as the Director of the Earle Brown Music Foundation, Rye NY, since 2006. Prior to moving to the U.S. from Germany in 2004, Fichter was appointed Executive Director of the contemporary music ensemble “musikFabrik” in Cologne, Germany (2001- 2004). Under his direction the group established a successful concert series of contemporary music at the West German Radio station in Cologne, which has commissioned 50 new works for 50 fifty concerts since its creation. From 1982 to 2001 Thomas Fichter was a member of the renowned Ensemble Modern, Frankfurt. He worked with leading composers and conductors worldwide both as a manager and artistic planner as well as a performing musician.

  • Alexander Scheirle Crested Butte Music Festival Director

    Festival Director since 2004, Alexander Scheirle also enjoys an international career as a cellist, performing concertos, chamber repertoire and orchestral music. He is principal cellist in the Crested Butte Festival Symphony Orchestra. Resident in the USA since 2007, he was born in Germany and trained at the Conservatories in Cologne, Aachen and Saarbruecken and at the Guildhall School in London, and has performed and recorded around the world with composers, soloists and conductors such as Pierre Boulez, Mstislav Rostropovich, Christopher Hogwood and Trevor Pinnock. From 1991 until 2007 he was principal cellist of the Bavarian Chamber Philharmonic Orchestra, based in the city of Augsburg, and became its Artistic Director in 2000, remaining in the post for seven years.
